Ontario Police Intensify Search for Clues in Cold Case Homicide

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have launched a renewed public appeal for information regarding the slaying of a 65-year-old man, nearly two years after his body was discovered just outside Brampton. In a bid to generate fresh leads, authorities have erected a billboard outside Orangeville, Ontario, featuring a photograph of the victim, David Robson, who was reported missing from Melancthon Township on March 21, 2024.

Billboard Aims to Jog Memories in Community

The billboard, strategically placed near the intersection of Dufferin Country Road 109 and Dufferin County Road 11, west of Orangeville, also displays an image of Robson's vehicle—a black 2017 Kia Sportage SUV with Ontario license plate number DAMZ 252. This vehicle has remained unlocated since his disappearance, adding a critical layer to the investigation. Detective-Inspector Mark Allison emphasized in a recent news release that the OPP hopes this visual prompt will encourage anyone passing through the area to recall pertinent details about Robson or the whereabouts of his SUV.

"We want to understand what happened to David and provide the answers his loved ones have been waiting for over the past two years," Allison stated, underscoring the emotional toll on Robson's family and friends.

Timeline of Events and Investigation Details

Robson's body was found on April 1, 2024, in the Chinguacousy Road and King Street area of Caledon, located a few kilometres northwest of Brampton. A post-mortem examination conducted the following day confirmed his death as a homicide, leading the Dufferin OPP crime unit, under the direction of the OPP's criminal investigation branch, to take charge of the probe. At the time, police assured the public that there was no perceived risk to safety, as they did not believe the incident was random.

The OPP's appeal for information coincides almost exactly with the two-year anniversary of Robson's discovery, highlighting the ongoing challenges in solving this case. Authorities are urging anyone with knowledge about the vehicle or the circumstances surrounding Robson's death to come forward.
