A major police operation targeting the online sexual exploitation of children has resulted in the arrest of 22 individuals across Quebec, authorities announced.
Widespread Police Operation
The Sûreté du Québec revealed that a specialized task force concluded a multi-day investigation on Friday, leading to 22 men facing charges related to child pornography. The alleged offenses include possessing, accessing, and distributing illicit material.
This large-scale effort involved more than 150 police officers from multiple forces, including the SQ, Montreal, Quebec City, Longueuil, Gatineau, and Laval police services. Officers executed a total of 26 search warrants across the province.
Suspects and Court Proceedings
The individuals taken into custody represent a wide age range, from 18 to 70 years old. Police confirmed that computer equipment was seized during the raids as part of the evidence collection process.
Significantly, 20 of the 22 accused have already made their initial court appearances following their arrests. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to analyze the seized evidence.
