Regina Startup MyLifeCatcher Launches App to Simplify Family Organization
In Regina, a new startup called MyLifeCatcher is making waves with its innovative organizer application, aimed at helping families and individuals streamline their daily lives. Founded by Raelynn Douglas and Rick Larson, the app seeks to address the common challenges of managing household responsibilities and schedules.
From Personal Struggle to Innovative Solution
Raelynn Douglas, the CEO of MyLifeCatcher, drew inspiration from her own experiences as a working mother of three. She recalls feeling overwhelmed by the unequal distribution of household duties, which eventually led to burnout and a panic attack. "We thought we need a solution to support parents to communicate better, to share the load responsibly, be good role models for their kids and ultimately thrive better at home and at work," Douglas explains.
Although her children are now grown and she has moved on from her first marriage, the memory of that stressful decade stayed with her. This personal history fueled her desire to create a tool that could prevent others from facing similar struggles.
Features and Functionality
The MyLifeCatcher app is designed to "catch" every aspect of daily life in one centralized location. It allows users to manage to-do lists, schedules, and plans all in one place. The application is free and available for both iPhones on the App Store and Android devices on the Play Store.
One of the standout features is the integration of two Australian AI assistants, named Liam and Margot. These assistants can generate recipes, create travel itineraries, and help users add links, photos, and tables to their notes. Additionally, lists and notes can be shared among multiple people, making it easier to coordinate activities like extracurricular schedules.
Rick Larson, co-founder of the company, notes that this tool would have been invaluable during his sons' childhoods, saving him time spent organizing sports schedules on spreadsheets.
Real-World Applications
The app has already proven useful in practical scenarios. Douglas used it with her family while her father was in palliative care. She and her sisters utilized a shared note to coordinate his care and keep their brother, who lives in British Columbia, updated on his condition. This approach allowed them to stay connected without relying solely on a family group chat, which can often become cluttered.
Company Background and Future Plans
MyLifeCatcher was incorporated on February 27, 2025, and is headquartered in Regina. Douglas and Larson began working on the project two years ago, self-funding it from the start. They have been careful to ensure that any future external investment aligns with the social responsibility core to their mission.
The couple completed the first two programs under the Conexus Credit Union’s Cultivator, a business incubator that supports Saskatchewan startups. Looking ahead, they aim to scale the app and develop new features as they attract more users across Western Canada.
"We’d like to think this would be the last app you’ll ever need," says Larson, "because it should consolidate a whole bunch of other things out there."
With its focus on simplifying daily life through technology, MyLifeCatcher represents a promising addition to the Regina tech scene, offering a practical solution for families seeking better organization and communication.
