Surfshark Unveils Multi IP & Upgraded Rotating IP for Enhanced Privacy
Surfshark's New Multi IP Feature Boosts Online Privacy

In a significant move to bolster digital anonymity, the cybersecurity firm and leading VPN provider Surfshark has announced the launch of two powerful new privacy tools. The company introduced a novel Multi IP feature alongside a major upgrade to its existing rotating IP service, both designed to dramatically complicate online tracking.

Industry-First Technology for Maximum Anonymity

According to Karolis Kaciulis, Leading System Engineer at Surfshark, the Multi IP solution is an industry-first innovation. It fundamentally changes how a VPN manages a user's internet traffic. Traditionally, when connected to a VPN, all of a device's online activity exits through a single, static IP address. Surfshark's Multi IP shatters that model by routing traffic to every individual session or website through a separate, unique IP address.

"In today’s world, where online privacy is becoming indispensable, our team wanted to step up and create innovative solutions," explained Kaciulis in a statement released on December 1, 2025. "By introducing Multi IP and upgrading rotating IP, we give users control over how their traffic is routed. This lets them choose different levels of online privacy while significantly reducing the ability of third parties to track their online activity."

How Surfshark's New Privacy Features Work

The two features offer complementary approaches to obscuring a user's digital trail:

Multi IP: This feature allows a user to assign a different IP address for each online destination—be it a banking website, a social media app, or a news portal—all within the same VPN session. Users can select IPs from a specific country, a broader region like the EU, or from anywhere globally.

Upgraded Rotating IP: This enhanced feature automatically changes a user's IP address every five minutes based on their selected location preference (country, region, or global). While a standard VPN encrypts data and hides your real IP, rotating IP adds a dynamic layer of anonymity by constantly shifting your virtual location.

Why Enhanced IP Control Matters for Canadians

For privacy-conscious users, these advancements represent a major leap forward. The constant switching of IP addresses with either tool makes it exponentially harder for advertisers, data brokers, and other snoopers to build a coherent profile of an individual's online behavior.

By preventing cross-site correlation—where trackers link your activity across different websites—the features directly combat targeted advertising and invasive data collection. This is particularly relevant as concerns over digital surveillance and data monetization continue to grow globally.

Surfshark's rollout positions the company at the forefront of the consumer privacy technology race, offering tools that go beyond basic encryption to provide truly fragmented and difficult-to-follow online identities.
