Police responded to a call around 2:30 p.m. on June 30, 2026, in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. Officers found a 38-year-old man with stab wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was arrested nearby shortly after.

The accused, identified as Marie-Claude Tremblay, appeared in court on July 1 and was formally charged with second-degree murder. She remains in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for next week. The SPVM has not released a motive, but investigators believe the incident was not random.
