Two Teenaged Boys Charged in Mooney's Bay Stabbing
Ottawa police have charged two teenage boys in connection with a stabbing attack at Mooney's Bay Park that occurred on May 30, leaving an 18-year-old man in critical condition and a 16-year-old girl with minor injuries.
In a statement released on Thursday, police revealed that a 16-year-old boy faces two counts each of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon, as well as charges of possession of a dangerous weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. A 15-year-old boy has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon.
Incident Details and Injuries
The charges stem from an altercation at the park on May 30, during which an 18-year-old man was stabbed and transported to hospital in critical condition. A 16-year-old girl sustained minor lacerations. Police later stated that as many as two dozen youths were present in the park when the confrontation began.
The cause of the confrontation remains unidentified by investigators. Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identities of the accused teenagers cannot be disclosed.
