The White House on Monday shared two tweets based on a post President Donald Trump made on Truth Social early in the morning as he attacked his critics. 'Just sit back and relax, it will all work out well in the end,' the president wrote on Truth Social at 1:02 a.m. 'It always does!'
White House Tweets Amplify Trump's Message
The White House first tweeted an image of the president and the all-caps message: 'TRUST IN TRUMP' followed by his quote. Then, a few hours later, the White House tweeted a short video that included a photo of Trump putting his finger to his lips along with a 'Shhh!' sound. That message also included an extended version of the president's quote. 'To those negatively chirping: quiet. ?,' the White House posted. 'It will all work out well in the end - it always does.'
Context of Trump's Post
Trump's full post was a complaint about critics on both the left and the right who are growing impatient with the three-month-old war with Iran and seemingly stalled effort to end it. The ongoing war, including the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, has led to a surge in the cost of oil, which in turn has sent the price of fuel skyrocketing and a corresponding jump in the inflation rate.
Backlash from Critics
Given the nature of the crisis, Trump's critics were in no mood to follow his advice and keep quiet. Many took to social media to express their frustration. Kylie Cheung tweeted, 'How you know it's going terrible.' Jared Holt wrote, 'lol yeah guys that should do it. just tell your supporters to shut the fuck up.' Seth Abramson said, 'I am convinced the account below is run by a serial killer.' Nick Field asked, 'Thousands of people have died, including 15 American soldiers, did it work out for them?' The Lincoln Project commented, 'All is well as he covers the hand that's been mysteriously bruised without explanation for over a year now.' Tom Nichols responded with, 'Silence, peasants.' MeidasTouch tweeted, 'This message does not signal strength.' Brett Erickson said, 'YOUR CULT LEADER DEMANDS BLIND FAITH!' Michael Weiss noted, 'We've entered the Hallmark card phase of Trump policy articulation.' Jonah Goldberg asked, 'Yes but for who?' Cuckturd wrote, 'Hey Maga sheep ?Your new orders just arrived. So do as your told & STFU!!!' Charles C. W. Cooke described it as 'Weird and ineffective.' WhickTV said, 'Oh. It must be BAD bad out there for them.' Kaguya's Top Gal commented, 'The kind of stuff your doctor tells you before diagnosing you with a terminal disease.' Aelthemplaer responded, 'No, Actually it doesn't.' Jeff Blehar asked, 'Has any one thing Trump ever tweeted betrayed quite as much insecurity as this?' Daniel Mattia wrote, 'How tone-deaf. We were promised no new wars, then entered a new war. Costs and prices of goods are skyrocketing across the board. There has been almost no focus on domestic issues, but we'll gladly solve all the rest of the world's problems.' Save America tweeted, 'This is a great way to make the last of whoever the fuck still supported you, leave. Trust just like every campaign promise now trashed. Absolute liars and an illegitimate administration.' Kristi Yamaguccimane asked, 'Is he my xanax dealer from college now?' Alpha Den said, 'The gaslighting is next-level when the people pointing out the inflation, border chaos, crime spikes, and endless wars are told to quiet while you post sunset filters of the White House like everything's fine. It always works out for who exactly? Not the average American.'
