Man faces charges for pointing gun at people: RCMP

A 27-year-old man is facing multiple charges after allegedly pointing a gun at people in Peace River, Alberta, according to RCMP.

Incident details

On June 25, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Peace River RCMP responded to a report of a man pointing a firearm at individuals in the area of 100 Street and 99 Avenue. Officers arrived and located the suspect, who initially refused to comply with commands. A brief standoff ensued before the man was taken into custody without incident.

Police seized a firearm at the scene. No injuries were reported.

Charges laid

The accused, a resident of Peace River, has been charged with:

  • Two counts of pointing a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Peace River Provincial Court on July 6, 2026.

Police statement

“This type of reckless behavior has no place in our community,” said Cpl. Sarah Thompson of Peace River RCMP. “We are grateful that no one was physically harmed, and we encourage anyone with information about similar incidents to come forward.”
