Quebec couple found dead in Dominican Republic villa

The sudden and simultaneous deaths of a Quebec couple at their vacation home in the Dominican Republic have left their family in shock and searching for explanations. Christine Sauve, 55, and her husband Alain Noel, 56, were discovered deceased in their villa on December 26.

A Tragic Discovery on Boxing Day

According to reports from the local newspaper El Nacional, the couple was found in their villa within a resort complex in the El Indio community of Villa Riva. The grim discovery was made by their son on the morning of Boxing Day after he noticed his parents had not woken up.

In a Facebook post, Christine's brother, Gilles Sauve Jr., stated his sister and brother-in-law "died in their sleep during the night of December 25th to 26th." Patricia Sauve, the couple's niece, described the event as "unimaginable" to the Canadian Press, expressing the family's profound confusion and grief.

Questions Surrounding Their Final Days

In the days leading up to their deaths, both individuals had experienced health issues. Patricia Sauve revealed that her aunt had felt dizzy and had fainted, leading to a hospital visit on Christmas Day. She was discharged with an appointment for follow-up tests. Alain Noel had also mentioned feeling unwell.

Despite these ailments, the couple appeared in good spirits during a FaceTime call with family on Christmas Day. "They were cheerful and joking," Sauve said, noting nothing indicated a life-threatening situation. The couple, married for over 30 years, were described as healthy, loving, and deeply involved in their communities both in Gatineau and the Dominican Republic.
