Calgary Folk Music Festival Unveils Star-Studded 2026 Lineup

The Calgary Folk Music Festival has announced a major expansion to its 2026 lineup, adding Grammy-winning artist Thundercat, Icelandic indie-folk band Of Monsters and Men, Alberta country star Corb Lund, and Black Pumas co-founder Adrian Quesada to the main stage roster. This year's festival, marking its 47th edition, will run from July 23 to 26 at Prince's Island Park, featuring a total of 68 artists across four days of performances.

Headlining Acts and Schedule Details

Thundercat, born Stephen Bruner, will headline Friday night's main stage. Known for his collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Gorillaz, and Flying Lotus, the bassist and R&B singer recently released his album Distracted, featuring tracks with Tame Impala, Beck, and Willow Smith. His set will be supported by Goldie Boutilier, American indie-pop artist SYML, and Dap-Kings saxophonist Cochemea.

Of Monsters and Men will close Thursday night's main stage following performances by Valerie June and Canadian singer-songwriter Julian Taylor. The Icelandic group brings their atmospheric folk-rock sound to Calgary as part of the festival's international lineup.

Saturday's main stage will be headlined by Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives, with additional performances from American folk artist Madison Cunningham and jazz-groove ensemble Jazz Is Dead, featuring Adrian Younge, Ronnie Laws, Carlos Dafe, and Ala.Ni.

Corb Lund will take the Sunday night closing slot after sets by the Psychedelic Furs and Adrian Quesada. Lund's appearance marks a highly anticipated return for the Alberta country musician, while Quesada's performance comes after Black Pumas' 2022 cancellation. Sunday will also feature indie-rock band Foxwarren, led by singer-songwriter Andy Shauf.

Additional Artists and Festival Highlights

The festival lineup includes several notable Canadian artists, such as Calgary expat Mariel Buckley, who recently won a Juno Award for her album Strange Trip Ahead. Other additions include Six Nations blues guitarist Derek Miller, Oklahoma singer-songwriter Ken Pomeroy, country-blues multi-instrumentalist Jontavious Willis, guitarist Cecile Doo-Kingue, and Juno-nominated Afro-Sufi singer Ahmed Moneka.

These new acts join previously announced headliners Valerie June, Goldie Boutilier, Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives, and the Psychedelic Furs, creating a diverse program spanning folk, rock, R&B, and country genres. The full artist list is available on the festival's official website, calgaryfolkfest.com.

The Calgary Folk Music Festival continues to be a premier summer event, attracting both local and international talent to celebrate musical diversity in Alberta's vibrant cultural scene.
