Dylan Dreyer Reveals What She and Husband 'Couldn't Fix' in Marriage
Dylan Dreyer on Marriage Split: 'Something We Couldn't Fix'

Dylan Dreyer, the well-known meteorologist for NBC's "Today" show, is speaking candidly about the reasons behind her marital separation from husband Brian Fichera, revealing there was something fundamental in their relationship that they simply "couldn't fix."

The Announcement and Background

Dreyer first publicly announced that she and Fichera were separating back in July, marking a significant change for the couple who had been married since 2012. Together, they share three sons who remain their primary focus throughout this transition.

While co-hosting "Today with Jenna and Friends" alongside Jenna Bush Hager, Dreyer addressed the situation directly. "Everybody has their reasons for what leads to a separation or divorce, right?" she stated, acknowledging the personal nature of such decisions while choosing to share part of her journey with viewers.

Moving Forward as Friends

The meteorologist explained the thoughtful approach she and Fichera have taken toward redefining their relationship. "There was something we couldn't fix, OK," Dreyer revealed, without specifying the exact nature of their marital challenges.

She elaborated on their new perspective: "We've reframed our relationship that we are no longer husband and wife. And all those things that were broken, I don't hold them against you, because we've accepted they're broken, that's why we separated. So, now let's move forward as friends."

Dreyer described this new chapter as "freeing" for both her and Fichera, emphasizing their conscious choice to either fix what was broken or accept the situation and move forward separately while maintaining respect for each other.

Focus on Family and Faith

Throughout this personal transition, Dreyer has maintained that their children "are surrounded by love every single day," ensuring their well-being remains the central priority for both parents.

She has also leaned heavily on her faith during this challenging period. "There's something really comforting about knowing that there is a higher power holding my hand every day," Dreyer shared. "At the end of the day, with all of the stress and everything going on, that I lay my head on the pillow and I'm content."

This isn't the first time Dreyer has been open about her relationship dynamics on air. She previously made headlines when she revealed that she and Fichera often communicated primarily through text messages due to their busy schedules.

Back in 2022, Dreyer explained their unconventional communication style: "Our schedules mean we don't see each other much, but we text all the time. It's even easier to have an important or deep conversation via text because we get all our thoughts out without being interrupted."

She had noted that they didn't find this method impersonal, stating, "We know each other well enough to understand each other's tone, so a lot gets accomplished through texting!"
