Disney's Snow White Remake Dominates 2026 Razzie Nominations

The Golden Raspberry Awards, Hollywood's satirical celebration of cinematic misfires, has unveiled its nominations for 2026, with Rachel Zegler's controversial Snow White remake leading the pack alongside Ice Cube's War of the Worlds adaptation. Both films received six nominations each, including the coveted worst picture category.

Top Contenders for Hollywood's Least Coveted Honors

Organizers described Zegler's Snow White as a "slow-paced unnecessary re-imagining of a classic" featuring "dopey CGI dwarfs" and "enough mediocrity to leave the audience in a very unhappy place." The film joins other notable worst picture nominees including The Weeknd's vanity project Hurry Up Tomorrow, Michelle Yeoh's Star Trek: Section 31, and the Chris Pratt-Millie Bobby Brown sci-fi adventure The Electric State.

The $4.97 gold spray-painted Razzie Award annually honors what organizers deem Hollywood's worst achievements, serving as the "ugly cousin to the Oscars" according to their own description.

Controversial Path to Nomination

Snow White's rocky journey began in 2022 when Zegler's comments about re-imagining the classic character went viral. "The original cartoon came out in 1937, and very evidently so," Zegler told Extra TV. "There's a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird! Weird! So we didn't do that this time."

In a separate Vanity Fair interview, the Golden Globe winner doubled down: "People are making these jokes about ours being the PC Snow White, where it's like, yeah, it is — because it needed that." The film ultimately became one of 2025's biggest box office disappointments, earning just over $200 million worldwide despite its massive production budget.

Star-Studded Disappointments

The worst actor and actress categories feature several surprising names, including:

  • The Weeknd for Hurry Up Tomorrow
  • Jared Leto for Tron: Ares
  • Nicolas Cage for Gunslingers
  • Robert De Niro for The Alto Knights
  • Ariana DeBose for Love Hurts
  • Natalie Portman for Fountain of Youth
  • Michelle Yeoh for Star Trek: Section 31

Some lesser-known performances also earned recognition, including Dave Bautista for In the Lost Lands, Rebel Wilson for Bride Hard, and both Sylvester Stallone and Scott Eastwood for Alarum.

Creative Categories Highlight Cinematic Missteps

The worst screen combo category features particularly creative nominations, including:

  1. All seven artificial dwarfs from Snow White
  2. James Corden and Rihanna for Smurfs
  3. Ice Cube and his Zoom camera for War of the Worlds
  4. Robert DeNiro playing two characters in The Alto Knights
  5. The Weeknd and "His Colossal Ego" for Hurry Up Tomorrow

Razzie Winners Embrace Their 'Honors'

Previous Razzie recipients have developed a unique relationship with their awards. Last year's big winner, Dakota Johnson for Madame Web, received support from fellow Razzie winner Sandra Bullock. "Sandra Bullock sent me a voice note, being like 'I heard you are in the Razzie club and we should have brunch,'" Johnson recalled on Amy Poehler's podcast.

Perhaps most memorably, Oscar winner Halle Berry personally collected her 2005 Razzie for worst actress in Catwoman. Reflecting on the experience years later, Berry told Entertainment Weekly: "I wanted to take the piss out of it and laugh at it... I put a lot of thought into how I could do it in a fun way and let everyone know that I didn't take it that seriously."

Complete Nomination List Highlights

The 46th Golden Raspberry Awards will announce winners on Saturday, March 14th, the day before the Oscars ceremony. Notable nominations beyond the major categories include:

Worst Remake/Rip-off/Sequel: I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025), Five Nights At Freddy's 2, Smurfs (2025), Snow White (2025), and War Of The Worlds (2025).

Worst Director: Rich Lee for War of The Worlds, Olatunde Osunsanmi for Star Trek: Section 31, The Russo Brothers for The Electric State, Trey Edward Shults for Hurry Up Tomorrow, and Marc Webb for Snow White.

The full slate of nominations represents what Razzie organizers consider the year's most disappointing cinematic efforts, from big-budget studio productions to vanity projects from music superstars.
