The centre builds on more than a decade of engagement with brothers Shyam and Hari Bhartia, founders of the New Delhi-based Jubilant Bhartia Group. Shyam serves as the group's chair, while Hari, a member of McGill's international advisory board, acts as co-chair. A memorandum of understanding to establish the centre was signed between McGill and the Jubilant Bhartia Foundation, which is the corporate social responsibility arm of the Jubilant Bhartia Group.
The Jubilant Bhartia Group will provide the land, facilities, and operational capacity necessary to establish and sustain the centre. Additionally, they will offer connections to companies in India's expanding AI and technology sectors, facilitating industry engagement and practical learning opportunities for students.
Launch Timeline and Student Capacity
The centre is scheduled to launch in May 2027, with the first group of students expected to enroll that fall. Initially, the program will accommodate 50 students, providing them with specialized education and research opportunities in artificial intelligence.
