Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Highway 417 in rural west Ottawa early Friday morning. The incident was reported to authorities at approximately 6:30 a.m. on April 24, 2026.
Crash Details
Emergency crews responded to the scene near the intersection of Highway 417 and March Road. Upon arrival, they discovered a single vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The cause of the crash is under investigation, but police have indicated that speed may have been a factor.
Road Closure
The eastbound lanes of Highway 417 were closed between March Road and Carp Road for several hours to allow for the investigation. The road has since reopened.
