VR Resources Limited (TSX.V: VRR, FSE: 5VR; OTCQB: VRRCF) announced the successful completion of a 2,892-foot (881-meter) drill hole at the Jeep Mine target on its New Boston moly-tungsten-copper-silver skarn and porphyry system in west-central Nevada, near Highway 95. The hole intersected continuous veining with sulfide mineralization throughout its entire length. Hyperspectral scanning and continuous geochemical sampling of the core are underway at laboratories in Reno, Nevada, with results pending.
Drill Hole Achieves Primary Objective
Dr. Michael Gunning, Chief Executive Officer of VR Resources, stated: “Drill hole NB26-003 achieved the primary objective of the program, and was longer than anticipated because of the veined and mineralized nature of the core. Further drilling will await integration of all geochemical data from this long vein intersection into the Company’s expansive project data base developed over the past seven years.” The hole was terminated at 2,892 feet due to instability, still within polyphase veins with sulfide in recrystallized limestone and clay-altered porphyry intrusions.
Confirmation of Geophysical Anomaly
The vein and sulfide intersection confirmed the co-spatial conductivity-chargeability anomaly identified in the Company’s 2023 3D-array DCIP geophysical survey. This anomaly is interpreted as the sulfide center of the large-footprint polymetallic skarn and porphyry system exposed at surface. The DCIP survey results, shown in plan map (Figure 1) and profile (Figure 2), guided the targeting of hole NB26-003 within the larger alteration and vein zone.
Key Observations from NB26-003
Initial takeaways from the drill hole include:
- Continuity: Polyphase quartz veins with vein and disseminated sulfide were logged in all core boxes across the entire 2,892-foot intersection, from top to bottom.
- Breadth: The hole did not drill through the target; it was terminated at depth still in mineralized veining.
- Intensity: No unaltered core was recovered. High-temperature garnet skarn replacement and marbleization of limestone occurs throughout, with hydrothermal alteration in all rock types.
- Energy: Vein geometries include sheeted, sinuous, stockwork, conjugate, crack-seal, and breccia types at all angles to core axis.
- Polymetallic: Surface geochemistry at the drill collar shows molybdenum, tungsten, copper, and silver in quartz-garnet veins. Sulfide assemblages include pyrite, chalcopyrite, and molybdenite in varying proportions.
- Source: Numerous porphyry intrusive phases throughout the hole, themselves mineralized with quartz veins and sulfides, are inferred as the driver of the vein system.
Next Steps
There are eight approved drill sites on the Company’s current NOI permit. Data from NB26-003 will be integrated into the project database to prioritize further drilling within the large-footprint alteration, vein, sulfide, and intrusive center now evident in three dimensions at Jeep Mine. The mineralized sheeted veins at New Boston strike for 2,100 meters east-west across Jeep Mine through the East Zone.
