Federal Funding Boosts Helmets to Hardhats Veteran Support
Federal Funding Supports Veterans in Skilled Trades

Federal Investment Strengthens Veteran Career Transitions

The national non-profit organization Helmets to Hardhats Canada (H2H) has secured significant federal funding to enhance career transition opportunities for military community members across the country. This support from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) was announced on November 10, 2025, and will directly benefit Veterans, Reservists, Cadets, and their family members.

Expanding Outreach with Veteran-Led Support

A key component of this new funding is the creation of three Veteran Outreach Specialist positions. Crucially, all three specialists are Veterans themselves, bringing firsthand understanding of the transition process. These new roles will significantly expand H2H's capacity to connect with military community members from coast to coast.

The specialists will guide participants through accessing essential training and certification programs, creating direct pathways to stable employment within Canada's unionized skilled trades sector. The investment also enhances H2H's existing mentorship and employment support services, ensuring more Veterans can build sustainable and meaningful second careers.

Building Careers in Canada's Growing Trades Sector

James Hogarth, Executive Director of Helmets to Hardhats Canada, emphasized the importance of this support. "ESDC's support helps Veterans build the skills needed for trades careers while navigating the transition with guidance from those who served," Hogarth stated. "Our Veteran Outreach Specialists provide the support participants need to succeed in the trades."

This initiative comes at a critical time. With new federal initiatives driving major building and infrastructure projects nationwide, there are growing opportunities for Veterans to apply their unique skills and discipline. H2H is now better positioned than ever to help participants seize these opportunities and make substantial contributions to Canada's evolving workforce.

Helmets to Hardhats Canada is a national non-profit that facilitates connections between the military community and rewarding apprenticeship and career opportunities in the skilled trades. The organization works in close partnership with Canada's Building Trades Unions and employers across the country.
