A 27-year-old man from Moncton, N.B., has died following a single-vehicle crash near Plaster Rock, N.B., on June 22, 2026. The collision occurred on Route 109, approximately 20 kilometres south of Plaster Rock, according to RCMP.
Details of the crash
Police responded to the scene at around 8:30 p.m. on Monday. Preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle, a 2018 Ford F-150, was travelling northbound when it left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 27-year-old Samuel Richard LeBlanc of Moncton.
RCMP say that no other vehicles were involved in the crash. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, but officers do not suspect foul play. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
Road conditions and response
Route 109 was closed for several hours as investigators reconstructed the scene. The highway reopened shortly after midnight on June 23. RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have dashcam footage to contact the Plaster Rock detachment.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time,” said Cpl. Julie Couturier of the New Brunswick RCMP in a statement. “We urge drivers to remain vigilant and drive according to road conditions.”
According to RCMP statistics, there have been 12 fatal collisions on New Brunswick roads in 2026 as of June 23, compared to 10 at the same time last year.
