Sault Ste. Marie police are seeking tips from the public to identify a suspect responsible for a graffiti campaign that has lasted more than a year. The unknown individual has been tagging properties across the city with markings that include the letters 'COSO', a face, and the number 36.

Ongoing Vandalism

Since at least mid-2025, the suspect has repeatedly defaced buildings, signs, and other structures with the distinctive tags. Police have received numerous complaints from residents and business owners frustrated by the persistent vandalism. The tags appear in various locations, suggesting the suspect is targeting multiple areas throughout Sault Ste. Marie.

Police Appeal for Information

In a statement released Thursday, Sault Ste. Marie Police Service urged anyone with information about the graffiti or the suspect to come forward. “We are asking the community to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity,” said Constable John Smith. “This has been a costly and frustrating issue for property owners, and we want to identify the person responsible.”
