Samuel Opoku, infamously known online as the 'Pee Pee Poo Poo Man,' who allegedly terrorized Toronto residents in 2019 by throwing buckets of liquified feces at five strangers, has been arrested on new charges. The 30-year-old now faces two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent exposure following two separate incidents within a day earlier this month.
Background of the 2019 Feces Attacks
In 2019, Opoku's bizarre crime spree involved approaching unsuspecting individuals and flinging buckets of liquified feces at them. He was arrested but released on bail after just three weeks in police custody. His lawyer at the time, Jordan Weisz, stated that Opoku was dealing with mental health issues and posed no threat to the public. Weisz remarked outside court in 2019, 'This is a one-strike-and-you're-out case. But I don't think that's going to happen. We were very careful to ensure that the conditions provided safety to the community and were conditions that could be understood.'
New Sexual Assault Charges
The new charges, laid last week, stem from two incidents in May. According to police, on May 9, Opoku approached a group of women walking on the sidewalk in the Dundas Street East and De Grassi Street area. He allegedly made verbal sexual advances and grabbed one woman's forearm before sexually assaulting her and fleeing the scene. The following day, May 10, in the Dundas Street West and Bloor Street West area, an adult woman was sexually assaulted in a commercial building. The suspect, identified as Opoku, is alleged to have approached her from behind, sexually assaulted her, and then fled. In both cases, the victims and the suspect were not known to each other.
Legal Proceedings and Public Reaction
Opoku has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent exposure. He was scheduled to appear at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre last week. The bizarre 2019 feces attacks gained widespread attention and even inspired a movie titled 'The Pee Pee Poo Poo Man with New Toronto Bizarre,' which premiered at TIFF Lightbox in 2024. At the time of the original incidents, then-Mayor John Tory praised police for their work, tweeting, 'Great work by @TorontoPolice arresting an individual in the feces attacks investigation. He can't face justice or be given help until apprehended.'
Ongoing Case
Opoku's case continues to unfold as he faces these new charges. The public and authorities await further developments in court.
