Nova Scotia drug bust: Meteghan man arrested on multiple charges

A significant police operation in Nova Scotia's Digby County has resulted in multiple criminal charges against a local man following a drug trafficking investigation.

The RCMP's Meteghan detachment executed a search warrant at a residence on Highway 1 in Meteghan on Tuesday, leading to the arrest of a 37-year-old man from the community.

Substantial Evidence Seized

During the search, officers uncovered what police are describing as substantial evidence of illegal activity. The seizure included:

  • A quantity of cocaine packaged for distribution
  • Canadian currency suspected to be proceeds of crime
  • Multiple prohibited firearms
  • Various rounds of ammunition

Multiple Criminal Charges Filed

The accused now faces serious criminal charges including possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of prohibited firearms, and possession of property obtained by crime.

"This investigation demonstrates our ongoing commitment to combatting drug trafficking and illegal weapons in our communities," said an RCMP spokesperson.

Court Proceedings Underway

The man was taken into custody and appeared in Digby Provincial Court on Wednesday to face the charges. The RCMP emphasized that their investigation into drug trafficking activities in the area remains active.
