The situation unfolded around 11 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Wellington Road West and Imperial Road, where Guelph Police Service responded to what they described as a "serious incident" involving a potentially armed individual.

Residents in the immediate vicinity received urgent shelter-in-place orders as police established a significant perimeter around the scene. The precautionary measures extended to several educational institutions in the area, including John F. Ross Collegial Vocational Institute, Victory Public School, and St. John Catholic Elementary School, all of which implemented lockdown protocols to ensure student safety.
