In a significant blow to organized crime in Northern Ontario, the Ontario Provincial Police have dismantled a drug trafficking operation following a coordinated raid in Elliot Lake. The enforcement action resulted in six arrests and the seizure of dangerous narcotics, cash, and a weapon.

Major Seizure of Controlled Substances

During the execution of a search warrant, law enforcement officials confiscated substantial quantities of illicit drugs with significant street value. The seized items included:

  • Quantities of cocaine and fentanyl
  • Crystal methamphetamine
  • Psilocybin (magic mushrooms)
  • Prescription medications
  • Canadian currency totaling over $4,000
  • A conducted energy weapon (Taser)

Coordinated Police Effort

The successful operation was the result of collaborative efforts between multiple police units. The OPP's Community Street Crime Unit from Manitoulin Island joined forces with the Elliot Lake OPP Crime Unit, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, and Emergency Response Team to execute the warrant effectively and safely.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

All six individuals arrested during the raid now face multiple serious charges related to drug trafficking and weapon possession. The accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake at a later date to answer to these charges.
