Edmonton police are urgently seeking the public's assistance in locating a driver involved in a serious hit-and-run collision that left five people injured, including four teenagers. The incident occurred on the morning of December 16 near Archbishop O'Leary Catholic High School.
Details of the Multi-Vehicle Collision
According to investigators, the chain-reaction crash happened just after 9 a.m. on the city's north side. Police state that a black Dodge Ram pickup truck was travelling north on 86 Street when it failed to stop at 132 Avenue. The truck struck a Honda CRV that was travelling eastbound.
The force of the initial collision sent the Honda into two parked vehicles before it crashed head-on into a westbound Nissan Rogue. The driver of the Dodge Ram fled the scene immediately after causing the wreck.
Victims and Injuries from the Crash
The Honda CRV was carrying four teenagers. Three of those youths, along with an adult woman and a teen from the Nissan Rogue, were transported to hospital with injuries.
While most injuries were reported as minor, one teenager from the Honda sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital, according to the latest police update.
Police Description of Suspect Vehicle
In a news release issued on Saturday, Edmonton Police Service provided photos of the suspect vehicle and a detailed description. Authorities are searching for an early 2010s model black Dodge Ram pickup truck.
The vehicle is believed to have front-end damage, particularly on the front passenger side. It was last seen fleeing westbound on 132 Avenue following the collision.
