Ontario Provincial Police in Essex County are actively searching for a motorist who abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot following a two-car crash in the Town of Lakeshore.
Collision Occurs Late Monday Night
The incident occurred on Monday, December 23, at approximately 11:30 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the area of Talbot Street North after receiving a report of a collision between two vehicles.
Upon arrival, police confirmed that one of the drivers involved had run from the scene. Authorities have stated that, fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
Extensive Search Effort Deployed
In an effort to locate the individual, the OPP called in additional resources. The OPP canine (K9) unit and officers from the emergency response team were deployed to assist in the search of the area.
Despite this concerted effort, police were unable to locate the driver who fled. The search was concluded without an arrest.
Police Appeal to Public for Information
Essex County OPP are now turning to the public for assistance in their investigation. Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with any witnesses to the collision or the events immediately following it.
Police are also urging anyone who may have been driving in the vicinity of Talbot Street North around the time of the incident to check their dashcam footage for any relevant video evidence.
