Barrie police have arrested a Mississauga man in connection with a child luring investigation. The accused faces charges of luring a child under 18 and making sexually explicit material available to a child, according to a police statement released Wednesday.

The arrest followed an investigation by the Barrie Police Service’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit. Officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Mississauga on Tuesday, leading to the suspect’s apprehension. The accused, whose name has not been released to protect the victim’s identity, is scheduled to appear in court in Barrie at a later date.
Police say the investigation began after a complaint was filed by the parent of the child involved. Authorities are not releasing further details to preserve the integrity of the ongoing legal process.

The suspect has been charged with luring a child under 18 via a computer system, contrary to Section 172.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code, and making sexually explicit material available to a child, contrary to Section 171.1(1)(a).
