The Windsor Police Service is actively investigating a disturbing knife-point robbery that targeted a 12-year-old youth in Amherstburg over the weekend. One teenage suspect has been apprehended, while a second individual remains at large.
Details of the Robbery
The incident occurred on Saturday, November 11, 2023, shortly after 7:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Sandwich Street South. According to police reports, the young victim was approached by two suspects. The situation escalated quickly when the pair allegedly brandished a knife and demanded money.
Investigators state that the suspects then forcefully took the child's backpack and an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the area on foot. Authorities have confirmed that the 12-year-old complainant was not physically injured during the terrifying ordeal.
Arrest and Ongoing Search
Later that evening, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers located and arrested one suspect in the 200 block of King Street. The individual taken into custody is a 16-year-old male who, under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, cannot be publicly identified.
This suspect now faces a serious charge of robbery with an offensive weapon. Meanwhile, the search continues for a second suspect described as a white male, believed to be between 15 and 18 years old. A key piece of evidence is his clothing; he was last seen wearing a white hooded sweater with the word "New York" printed on it.
