Ontario's Special Investigations Unit is probing a collision that occurred after an attempted traffic stop in Windsor, sending two individuals to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Incident Details

Windsor police reported that officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 3300 block of Walker Road shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Friday. The vehicle in question failed to stop and sped away, colliding with another vehicle a short distance away.

Two people were transported to hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Police have not released details about the individuals, the nature of their injuries, the events leading up to the incident, or the reason for the attempted traffic stop.

SIU Involvement

The Windsor Police Service has notified Ontario's Special Investigations Unit, an independent agency mandated to investigate cases of serious injury, sexual assault, or death involving police. Due to the SIU investigation, police stated they are unable to provide further information at this time.

Road Closure

Walker Road remained closed on Friday between Sydney Avenue and Foster Avenue as investigators examined the scene. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
