Bitget Donates PHP 100,000 for Cebu Earthquake Relief
Bitget Supports Cebu Earthquake Relief Efforts

Global cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has mobilized significant support for communities devastated by the recent 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck northern Cebu in the Philippines. The company partnered with local organization The Ascent Project to distribute critical relief supplies to 118 residents across Bogo City and San Remigio.

Immediate Response to Regional Disaster

The earthquake, recorded as the strongest to hit northern Cebu in decades, caused widespread destruction throughout the region. Thousands of residents were displaced from their homes, while local infrastructure suffered severe damage. Many affected families found themselves without stable access to electricity and clean water in the aftermath.

Bitget responded by funding a PHP 100,000 relief effort that enabled the distribution of food packs, hygiene kits, and other essential necessities. The relief operation took place on November 2, with local volunteers coordinating with barangay officials to identify households with the most urgent needs.

Community-Led Relief Efforts

The donation drive was mobilized through Bitget's local trading community, one of the company's longest-running grassroots groups in Southeast Asia. This approach reflects Bitget's strategy of working directly with user communities to identify urgent needs and provide timely support.

Gracy Chen, CEO at Bitget, expressed the company's commitment, stating: "My heart goes out to people that have been struggling during this difficult time. Our community in Cebu has helped us stand with those in need during such distress, we hope to support and continue building trust."

The relief arrived at a crucial moment for affected families, as weather alerts signaled another approaching storm that threatened to compound the existing challenges.

Broader Global Impact Strategy

This initiative forms part of Bitget's comprehensive global impact strategy, which includes long-term partnerships such as its collaboration with UNICEF to expand digital and blockchain education for over 1 million young people by 2027.

As recovery efforts continue in northern Cebu, Bitget and its Philippine community partners are evaluating additional ways to provide assistance and support rebuilding initiatives. The Universal Exchange remains committed to extending its presence beyond trading platforms and contributing to meaningful, on-the-ground support where its communities need it most.

Established in 2018, Bitget serves as the world's largest Universal Exchange, providing access to millions of crypto tokens, tokenized stocks, ETFs, and other real-world assets for over 120 million users worldwide.
