In a powerful display of community spirit, employees from Alectra Inc. braved frigid winter conditions to participate in the annual Coldest Night of the Year walk, raising an impressive $15,000 to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness, hunger, and hardship across the regions they serve.
Employees Step Up for Critical Cause
More than 100 dedicated Alectra team members joined thousands of Canadians in this nationwide fundraising event, walking through winter temperatures and icy conditions to generate crucial funds for local organizations. The employees formed five teams across Alectra's service territory, supporting vital community partners including The Dam in Mississauga, Hope House in Guelph, Regeneration Outreach Community in Brampton, and Blue Door in Richmond Hill.
Leadership Expresses Pride in Team Effort
"We are incredibly proud of our Alectra team members who continue to demonstrate their commitment to our communities by participating in the Coldest Night of the Year walk," said Brian Bentz, President and Chief Executive Officer of Alectra Inc. "This annual event exemplifies our dedication to making a positive impact, as we join local organizations to provide essential services to those in need. Together, we're making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve."
Longstanding Commitment to Community Support
Since 2018, Alectra has been a consistent supporter of the Coldest Night of the Year initiative, with employee participation contributing nearly $70,000 over the years. The funds raised through this event provide critical resources at the local level, including emergency shelter, food programs, mental health services, and housing support for vulnerable community members.
National Recognition for Local Impact
Brian Carney, CEO of the Blue Sea Foundation, which organizes the Coldest Night of the Year campaign, praised Alectra's ongoing commitment: "CNOY began as a small winter walk 16 years ago, and over the past several years Alectra has stepped up in a meaningful way. Their support across the Greater Toronto Area has been incredible and substantial, year after year. What we're seeing in communities throughout the region is exactly what this campaign is about – neighbours coming together to support those experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness."
