As winter approaches, a new survey from Canadian outdoor tool company Garant reveals the significant impact snow removal has on daily life across the country. The study found that more than half of Canadians clear snow at least once daily during snowfall events, with 37% reporting they've been late for appointments due to this time-consuming task.
Electric Revolution in Snow Removal
Garant, a trusted name in Canadian outdoor equipment for over 130 years, is addressing this widespread issue with the launch of two innovative cordless electric snow blowers. The new 21-inch Cordless Electric Snow Blower and 24-inch 2-Stage Self-Propelled Electric Snow Blower represent a major step in the company's electric evolution, building on last year's successful electric snow shovel launch.
Pierre-Yves Martin, General Manager at Garant, emphasized the company's commitment to understanding Canadian winter realities. "Our new electric snow blowers bring that same durability and performance Canadians trust from Garant with the convenience, efficiency, and innovation that define the next generation of outdoor power equipment," Martin stated.
Powerful Performance Features
The new models combine brushless motors with durable steel construction to handle tough Canadian winter conditions. The 21-inch model delivers up to 50 minutes of runtime and can throw snow up to 40 feet, featuring electronic chute control with 200-degree rotation for precision clearing.
For heavier snowfall and larger areas, the 24-inch 2-Stage Self-Propelled model offers up to 60 minutes of operation on a single charge, with a 50-foot throwing distance and heated handles. This model allows chute rotation without releasing the handles and features optimized wheel speed to prevent slipping in deep snowbanks.
Both models include dual-port battery compartments, variable speed control, and heavy-duty steel frames built to withstand extreme winter conditions while operating more quietly and without emissions compared to traditional gas-powered units.
The Snowfall Slowdown Problem
Garant's survey uncovered the substantial burden snow removal places on Canadians. Beyond scheduling impacts, the research found that 23% of Canadians had to clear snow multiple times daily during each snowfall last winter. The task also generates anxiety, with 36% of households worrying about potential injuries during snow removal.
However, the survey also revealed strong satisfaction among snow blower users, with 95% agreeing it's the best method for snow removal. Garant's new electric models aim to build on this satisfaction while addressing environmental concerns and noise pollution associated with gas-powered equipment.
The new cordless electric snow blowers are now available nationwide starting at $1,149.99 in most hardware stores and specialized industrial retailers. This launch is part of Garant's broader expansion plan, which includes more than 15 new outdoor power tools over the next year, including the company's first cordless electric lawn mowers expected in spring 2026.
