Peer Support Program Launches
The initiative, led by local health organizations, aims to bridge the gap between medical treatment and daily life after a stroke. Volunteers, who are themselves stroke survivors, offer advice on coping strategies, rehabilitation exercises, and navigating healthcare systems. According to program coordinators, the peer-to-peer model helps reduce feelings of isolation among new patients.
Impact on Recovery
Early results indicate that patients who participate in the program show improved morale and adherence to recovery plans. One volunteer noted, 'I know how hard it is, and I want to make the journey easier for others.' The program currently has 15 volunteers and plans to expand to meet growing demand.
