The OPP said the driver was stopped on Highway 11 on June 29, 2026. Officers determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol. A child was present in the vehicle at the time of the stop. The driver faces charges under the Criminal Code for impaired driving and related offences.

According to OPP, the three impaired driving charges were laid between June 28 and June 29. The other two incidents did not involve children. The OPP reminded the public that impaired driving remains a leading cause of death on Ontario roads.

Consequences and Warnings

Impaired driving charges can result in license suspension, fines, and jail time. Having a child in the vehicle is considered an aggravating factor, said OPP Constable Michelle Simard. "This is extremely concerning. Impaired driving is always dangerous, but when a child is involved, the risk is even greater," she said.
