CPKC Holiday Train Rolls Out for 25th Anniversary Season | Festive Food Drive on Rails
CPKC Holiday Train Begins 25th Anniversary Tour

The iconic CPKC Holiday Train has officially begun its magical journey across North America, marking a quarter-century of spreading holiday cheer while fighting hunger in communities. This beloved rolling spectacle launched its 25th anniversary season with great fanfare, promising to deliver festive magic from coast to coast.

A Quarter Century of Holiday Magic

Since its inaugural journey in 1999, the CPKC Holiday Train has evolved into one of North America's most anticipated holiday traditions. What began as a single train has grown into a magnificent rolling celebration featuring beautifully decorated locomotives adorned with thousands of twinkling LED lights and festive decorations.

The train's mission remains as vital as ever: raising awareness, food, and funds for local food banks and hunger-fighting organizations. Over the past 24 years, this incredible initiative has generated more than 22 million dollars and 5 million pounds of food for community food banks across Canada and the United States.

2023 Journey: Coast-to-Coast Festivities

This year's journey spans an impressive route with multiple stops planned throughout Canada and the northern United States. The Canadian tour kicked off in Beaconsfield, Quebec, on November 25th, while the U.S. train began its journey in British Columbia.

The Western Canadian route includes numerous Alberta stops, bringing the festive celebration to communities large and small. Each stop transforms into a temporary holiday festival, complete with live musical performances from acclaimed artists.

More Than Just a Pretty Sight

While the dazzling light display captivates audiences of all ages, the true heart of the CPKC Holiday Train lies in its charitable mission. Each community stop serves as both a celebration and a call to action, encouraging attendees to support their local food banks through monetary donations or non-perishable food items.

"The Holiday Train is about families and communities coming together to celebrate the season and help their neighbors in need," said Keith Creel, CPKC President and CEO. "We're proud to continue this important tradition that has become so much more than just a train—it's a symbol of community spirit and generosity."
