Canada's Wonderland Reopens with New Rollercoaster and Chaperone Rules

Canada's Wonderland Announces Spring Opening with Major Attraction Updates

As spring finally arrives in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada's Wonderland prepares for its seasonal reopening on May 3, 2026. The park's opening signals warmer days ahead and introduces significant changes, including a completely reimagined rollercoaster and a new chaperone policy designed to enhance guest safety.

The DareDeviler: A Classic Coaster Reborn

The highlight of this season's offerings is The DareDeviler, a thrilling transformation of the former Flight Deck Roller Coaster. Originally launched as Top Gun in 1995, this inverted coaster has undergone extensive renovations to align with the original vision of the Grande World Expo area. Park officials describe the experience as allowing guests to "relive early aviation as they soar, dive, and twist through a legendary stunt plane built to thrill the world."

Technical enhancements include:

  • Track refinements for a smoother ride
  • New trains with improved seating
  • Open, vest-style restraints for better immersion

Heather Hill, park manager, expressed enthusiasm about the project: "We're excited to breathe new life into one of our classic roller coasters. With The DareDeviler, we're elevating the thrill experience with a smoother, more comfortable ride."

Record-Breaking AlpenFury Returns

Meanwhile, AlpenFury continues its reign as Canada's premier launch coaster. Following its record-breaking debut last year, the attraction maintains its status as the country's longest, tallest, and fastest launch coaster. It also holds the world record for the most inversions on a launch coaster with nine. Hill noted that AlpenFury will "continue to deliver the record-breaking excitement that thrilled guests last season and will again in 2026."

New Chaperone Policy for Enhanced Safety

Beginning May 1, Canada's Wonderland implements a new chaperone policy aimed at maintaining a safe environment. The rules specify:

  1. From 4 p.m. daily, all guests aged 15 or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone at least 21 years old
  2. One chaperone may accompany no more than 10 guests aged 15 or younger per day
  3. The policy applies for both admission and remaining in the park

This initiative follows York Police's Operation Beehave, launched in 2022 to address incidents involving unsupervised teens both inside and outside the park. The policy serves as a proactive measure to prevent disturbances and ensure family-friendly enjoyment.

Additional Park Enhancements and Offerings

Beyond the coaster updates, Canada's Wonderland introduces several new experiences:

  • The DareDeviler IPA: A craft-inspired beer partnership with Something in the Water Brewing Co., featuring bright citrus aromas
  • Brew & BBQ: Returning in June with culinary offerings
  • Three live shows: Spanning cirque, acrobatics, and musical performances
  • The Sweet Spot: A renovated candy shop on International Street with handcrafted treats
  • Choco Crispy Bites Funnel Cake: A decadent new dessert featuring marshmallow cream, chocolate clusters, vanilla soft-serve, and warm chocolate sauce

For visitors seeking extended access, Silver Passes are available for $89 (online only), providing unlimited entry to the park, Splash Works, and summer events through Labour Day. More information about season passes, tickets, and entertainment can be found at the park's official website.

The 2026 season at Canada's Wonderland promises enhanced thrills, improved safety measures, and expanded culinary and entertainment options, positioning the park as a premier destination for family fun in the Greater Toronto Area.
