Ottawa Gas Prices to Jump 5 Cents a Litre on Thursday

Ottawa motorists will see a 5-cents-per-litre increase at the pumps on Thursday, July 11, 2026, pushing the average price to 174.9 cents per litre, according to industry analyst Dan McTeague.

Price Hike Details

McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, said the increase is due to a combination of rising crude oil costs and the switch to summer-blend gasoline. The new price will be the highest in the region since early June.

“The jump is driven by higher wholesale prices and the need to transition to summer fuel, which is more expensive to produce,” McTeague said in a statement. He noted that Ottawa prices typically lag behind Toronto by a day or two.

Impact on Drivers

The increase means filling a 50-litre tank will cost an extra $2.50, bringing the total to approximately $87.45. Some stations may adjust earlier or later, but most are expected to follow the trend by midday Thursday.

Gas prices in Ottawa have fluctuated between 160 and 180 cents per litre in recent months, with the current hike reflecting global market pressures. The average price in Ontario is currently 168.9 cents per litre.
