OpenAI has launched a new subscription tier called ChatGPT Work, designed specifically for business users, according to a Reuters report published July 9, 2026. The new offering aims to integrate artificial intelligence more deeply into workplace productivity, providing enhanced features over the existing ChatGPT Pro and Enterprise plans.
ChatGPT Work Features and Pricing
ChatGPT Work includes access to OpenAI's most advanced language models, priority processing, and expanded context windows for handling longer documents. The tier also offers team collaboration tools, allowing multiple users to work on shared projects within the ChatGPT interface. Pricing is set at $60 per user per month for annual billing, with a monthly option at $75 per user.
Enterprise customers retain access to custom data retention policies and single sign-on integration, but ChatGPT Work targets small to medium-sized businesses that need robust AI tools without full enterprise customization. OpenAI claims the new tier can reduce time spent on email drafting, data analysis, and report generation by up to 40% based on internal beta testing.
Market Context and Competition
The launch comes amid intensifying competition in the AI assistant market. Google has rolled out Gemini for Workspace, and Microsoft continues to integrate Copilot across its Office suite. According to industry analyst Chad Morganlander, senior portfolio manager at Washington Crossing Advisors, the AI boom is driving rapid product expansion. "We're seeing a land grab for enterprise customers," Morganlander said in a BNN Bloomberg interview. "OpenAI needs to differentiate beyond just model quality."
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that ChatGPT Work addresses feedback from businesses that found existing tiers either too limited or too complex. The company also announced that ChatGPT Work will include a new "Workflows" feature, enabling automated sequences of AI tasks, such as summarizing meeting notes and generating follow-up emails.
Impact on AI Adoption
Analysts predict that ChatGPT Work could accelerate AI adoption in sectors like legal, finance, and consulting, where document-heavy workflows dominate. However, concerns about data privacy and job displacement persist. OpenAI emphasizes that all data processed in ChatGPT Work is encrypted and not used for model training unless explicitly opted in.
The launch is part of OpenAI's broader strategy to monetize its technology beyond consumer subscriptions. The company recently reported that ChatGPT Enterprise has over 600,000 users across 3,000 organizations since its launch in 2023. With ChatGPT Work, OpenAI aims to capture a larger share of the estimated $15 billion enterprise AI market.
