Bombardier and Rolls-Royce Enhance Aircraft Health Monitoring for Global 5500 and 6500
Bombardier and Rolls-Royce Boost Aircraft Health Monitoring

Bombardier and Rolls-Royce have introduced an enhanced aircraft health monitoring program for the Global 5500 and Global 6500 aircraft, integrating Bombardier's Smart Link Plus system with Rolls-Royce's new Pearl 15 engine vibration and health monitoring unit (EVHMU). The upgrade is now available for installation across Bombardier's worldwide service centre network, benefiting both new and in-service aircraft.

Real-Time Data for Proactive Maintenance

The Smart Link Plus system enables customers to make real-time, data-driven decisions for dispatching, troubleshooting, and tracking aircraft service needs. Rolls-Royce's EVHMU automatically transmits engine data during and after each flight, allowing for proactive troubleshooting and maintenance planning. Approximately 450 Bombardier aircraft currently operate with Smart Link Plus, which boasts a 99% renewal rate among operators.

Enhanced Engine Monitoring Capabilities

Working together, Smart Link Plus and the EVHMU provide access to roughly 10,000 engine performance and health parameters on the Global 5500 and 6500. This integration aims to maximize aircraft availability and minimize downtime. The EVHMU represents a step-change in on-wing engine intelligence, delivering best-in-class availability through advanced data analytics and early warning indications to prevent flight schedule disruptions.

First in Business Aviation

“The integration of Smart Link Plus with Rolls-Royce’s engine vibration and health monitoring unit will allow our Global 5500 and 6500 customers to seamlessly benefit from enhanced end-to-end data services that help optimize aircraft performance and reliability while continuing to keep maintenance costs in check,” said Anthony Cox, Vice President, Customer Support, Bombardier. “This advanced service offering is a first in business aviation, highlighting not only the close collaboration between Bombardier and Rolls-Royce’s technical teams, but also how we continue to leverage our full capacity as the OEM to make things easy and convenient for our customers.”

Installation and Availability

Select Global 5500 and 6500 customers can now book appointments for installation of Smart Link Plus and the EVHMU at Bombardier Service Centres worldwide. The system also monitors the performance of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) to further enhance Rolls-Royce's predictive capabilities, supported by its 24/7 Business Aviation Aircraft Availability Centre.
