A man is in life-threatening condition after a vehicle crashed into a tree in North York on Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency crews responded to the scene near the intersection of Finch Avenue East and Leslie Street just before 5 p.m. The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was extricated by firefighters and rushed to a trauma centre in critical condition.
Police say the cause of the crash is under investigation, but speed may have been a factor. The road was closed for several hours as investigators examined the scene.
This incident adds to a series of recent collisions in the area, prompting renewed calls for traffic safety measures.
