At the Geotab Connect 2026 conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, the company presented a comprehensive vision for how artificial intelligence is fundamentally reshaping the telematics sector. Geotab Founder and CEO Neil Cawse emphasized the critical relationship between data quality and AI performance during his keynote presentation. "Data is the food for AI," Cawse stated. "In an AI-first world, what matters aren't dashboards or interfaces, it's the quality and completeness of the data underneath them."

During the conference, Geotab announced the general availability of Geotab Ace to all fleets. This AI-driven assistant brings conversational interaction capabilities into the MyGeotab platform, enabling fleet teams to ask questions and receive answers without generating traditional reports or manipulating spreadsheets.

The multilingual AI assistant has been trained to handle diverse requests ranging from operational inquiries about vehicle locations and driver contexts to strategic analysis across safety, utilization, and performance metrics. Over the past year, more than 3,000 customers have utilized Ace, with plans to expand its capabilities for completing additional tasks within MyGeotab and integrating with other AI systems across the ecosystem.

A Centralized AI Layer for Organizational Connectivity

Cawse outlined a future operational model built around a single, central AI layer that connects data and systems across entire organizations. This approach allows customers to ask questions and trigger actions without navigating multiple disconnected tools.

"AI can be an operational layer built on high-fidelity data at source," Cawse explained. "Rather than simply assisting users with answers or reports, AI is increasingly carrying out work directly, drawing on connected data and domain expertise to identify risk, prioritize actions and execute tasks across systems."

The conference demonstrated how AI requires complete, connected, and trusted data from vehicles, assets, video feeds, and infrastructure to move beyond theoretical applications and deliver tangible business outcomes. Geotab's vision positions artificial intelligence not as a supplementary technology but as a transformative operational layer that redefines how businesses manage and optimize their transportation and logistics functions.
