Pats Prospects Excel on International Stage
While the Regina Pats were busy securing three victories in four Western Hockey League contests last week, two of their brightest young talents were representing Canada on the global stage. Maddox Schultz and Liam Pue, both 15-year-old rookies, helped guide Canada White to a silver-medal finish at the 2025 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
The duo's impressive tournament culminated in a 6-3 loss to Canada Red in the gold medal game on Sunday. Despite the final result, their performances were standout. Schultz, who scored a third-period goal to bring the score to a tense 4-3 before Canada Red sealed the win with two empty-netters, was named a tournament all-star. He finished the event with a remarkable nine points from six goals and three assists over five games. His teammate, Liam Pue, was equally formidable, recording eight points from four goals and four assists.
Regina Pats Build Momentum with Busy Week
Back on home ice, the Regina Pats were crafting a successful week of their own. The team demonstrated resilience and offensive firepower, improving their record to 8-9-2 for the season.
The week began dramatically with a 4-3 overtime victory against the Calgary Hitmen on Tuesday. After falling behind 3-1, the Pats mounted a thrilling comeback. Reese Hamilton scored in the third period, and former Hitmen forward Keets Fawcett tied the game with just over two minutes left in regulation. Fawcett then completed the comeback, scoring the overtime winner on a backhand feed from Zachary Lansard. Goaltender Marek Schlenker backed the effort with 27 saves.
The momentum hit a slight bump with a 4-3 loss to the Red Deer Rebels on Friday. Keets Fawcett continued his hot streak, scoring all three of Regina's goals for a hat-trick, but the team could not overcome an early deficit. Matthew Hutchison manned the net, making 22 saves.
Regina quickly returned to its winning ways, dominating the Moose Jaw Warriors 6-3 on Saturday. The power play was a key factor, scoring three times. Caden Brown led the charge with a five-point night (three goals, two assists), and Marek Schlenker was a wall in net, setting a career-high with 36 saves.
The team capped the week with a commanding 7-1 victory over the Swift Current Broncos on Sunday, heading into the next stretch of the season with confidence.
Looking Ahead for the Pats
The Regina Pats are now preparing for another two-game homestand at the Brandt Centre. They are scheduled to host the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday, followed by a rematch against the Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday.
Following this weekend's action, the club faces a significant test with a six-game U.S. road trip, beginning on November 19 in Spokane and concluding on November 29 in Wenatchee. The continued development of their young stars, both at home and abroad, signals a promising future for the Pats organization.
