Alex Singleton Reveals Testicular Cancer Surgery, Aims for NFL Return
Broncos' Alex Singleton has successful cancer surgery

Denver Broncos linebacker and former Calgary Stampeders star Alex Singleton has publicly announced he is recovering from successful surgery for testicular cancer, delivering a powerful message about the importance of early detection.

A Sudden Diagnosis and Swift Action

On Monday, November 10, 2025, Singleton took to social media to reveal his health journey. He described himself as a "lucky man" after undergoing a successful operation on Friday, November 7th. The diagnosis came just the week prior, following a random test conducted as part of the NFL's Drug Testing Program.

The test detected elevated levels of the hormone hCG. Singleton, confident in his diligence with what he puts into his body, knew this was not from an external substance. He promptly consulted with his agent and wife, leading to an appointment with a urologist, Dr. Andrew Zilovy.

From the Field to Surgery

In a remarkable display of toughness, Singleton played against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night, November 6th. The very next day, he underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumour.

"Thankfully, we believe the cancer was caught early with a great prognosis for me and my family," Singleton stated. He credited the Broncos organization for their immediate support, connecting him with Dr. Geoff Ledgerwood, who performed an ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis.

Despite being in the midst of a standout season where he is currently fifth in the NFL with 89 tackles, Singleton's focus shifted to his health. He shared the news with his teammates before making it public, hoping his story could help others.

A Message of Hope and Awareness

"I wrestled with sharing such personal information publicly," Singleton wrote. "But the fact is, if it helps one person decide to pay closer attention to their body, then it is well worth it."

He emphasized that early detection and regular screenings save lives and can prevent immense grief for loved ones. While he and his family are still awaiting some additional test results, the linebacker is optimistic about his future.

Singleton fully expects to return to the field in the coming weeks. His professional career includes four years with the Broncos and three prior seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. Before his NFL success, he was a CFL star with the Calgary Stampeders from 2016 to 2018, winning a Grey Cup in 2018 and being named the CFL's Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2017.
