Detroit Lions' Terrion Arnold arrested for kidnapping, armed robbery

Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold is facing multiple charges after two defendants agreed to plea deals in a kidnapping and assault case they claim was led by the NFL player. Arnold surrendered on Wednesday night and was taken into custody, Tampa Police said in a statement.

The 23-year-old is facing four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery. The Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office said the eight charges carry a potential sentence of up to life in prison, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Arrest stems from alleged revenge for stolen property

Arnold’s arrest comes nearly five months after a “targeted armed robbery” of three males in their late teens on Feb. 4. Three days before that violent incident, Arnold and others had multiple items of personal property worth more than $250,000 stolen from an Airbnb that the NFL star had been renting in Largo, Fla. Police say Arnold suspected that two of the three robbery victims were responsible.

According to cops, Arnold and some of the six co-defendants lured the suspects to a Tampa apartment, where the three teenagers were “battered, held at gunpoint, and pistol-whipped before their personal property was stolen and they were ordered to leave.” The police report also said that one of the defendants streamed the incident to Arnold and two others as they headed to the apartment, and that a group chat was created in which directions were given during the assault.

Victims cleared of Airbnb theft

The victims, who have since been cleared of the Airbnb theft, reported it to Tampa Police and positively identified the suspects, according to the report. Four men, between the ages of 23 and 27, and two 19-year-old females were arrested between Feb. 4 and Feb. 21 in connection to the robbery and kidnapping, police said.

Arnold is currently being held at Orient Road Jail in Florida’s Hillsborough County. The Florida state attorney’s office said in a release that it intends to file a pretrial motion to keep Arnold in jail until trial because “he remains a danger to the community.” A date for that hearing has not been set.

Arnold maintains innocence

Arnold previously denied any involvement in the case, per the Free Press, a stance that was reiterated on Wednesday by Denise White, chief executive of Arnold’s representatives EAG Sports Management, who stated: “There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations. Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences.” She added: “Mr. Arnold looks forward to his day in court and is confident that the judicial process will lead to his ultimate vindication.”

Arnold has played in 24 games for the Lions since he was drafted in the first round in 2024. His last game played was on Nov. 27, 2025, during which he had four of his 31 total tackles of the season. The Lions said in a statement: “We are aware of the legal situation regarding Terrion Arnold. We will not comment at this time out of respect for the ongoing legal process.”
