Showing Disdain for Bill C-34

In a letter responding to Lorne Gunter's column "Bill C-34 just Liberal censorship behind child-protection smokescreen" (June 14), Steve Peck of Brampton expressed his fantasy that one day Liberals would view actual criminals, young offenders, and hate paraders with the same disdain they show toward legal hunters, convoy truckers, and honest private citizens. Peck questioned whether his own posting would pass the new bill's test.

Renewing Vows with Doug Ford

Mike Ciupa of Toronto, reacting to Jane Stevenson's article "Love is in office" (June 25), wondered if he could get his local MPP Doug Ford to renew his vows, now that MPPs can officiate weddings. The editor responded that Ford probably would do that.

Canada's Softness

Tobin H. McCartney of Calgary lamented that Canada has become delicate, with people booing national anthems and complaining about everyone but themselves. He stated that "Canada strong" is a joke and that the country is leaderless. The editor agreed that anthem booing is overdone and needs to stop.

Greedy Bailout for Condo Developers

Karen Martin, responding to Brian Lilley's column "Carney spends your money to rescue condo kingpins" (June 25), criticized Mark Carney's plan to buy 2,200 condos from developers who don't want to sell at a loss. She argued that developers never donate profits when they make money and should face the consequences of overdeveloping and raising costs. The editor called it the Liberal way to waste money.
