Stephanie Ford, Daughter of Late Mayor Rob Ford, Enters Ontario PC Party Politics

Stephanie Ford, the 20-year-old daughter of Toronto's late mayor Rob Ford and niece of Premier Doug Ford, has officially entered the provincial political arena. The York University student was elected to serve as the youth representative and ninth vice president of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party during the party's weekend convention at the Toronto Congress Centre in Etobicoke.

A Family Political Legacy Continues

The younger Ford announced her election on Instagram, expressing enthusiasm about her new role within the party. "I have the honour to have been elected as the 9th vice president and youth representative of the Progressive Conservative Party," she wrote. "I look forward to working alongside my fellow party members as representatives for PC supporters."

Stephanie Ford becomes the latest member of the prominent political family to engage with provincial politics. Her uncle, Premier Doug Ford, currently leads the Ontario government, while her cousin Michael Ford previously served as Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism before announcing he would not seek re-election. Her grandfather, Doug Ford Sr., served as a Progressive Conservative MPP under Premier Mike Harris from 1995 to 1999.

Political Experience and Background

According to her LinkedIn profile, Ford has already gained substantial political experience through internships with key government offices. She previously interned for York Centre MPP Michael Kerzner at the Ministry of the Solicitor General, where her responsibilities included:

  • Coordinating MPP attendance at events and official tours
  • Assisting with speechwriting and preparing briefing notes
  • Creating and managing social media content for the Ontario PC Party
  • Contributing to policy research and analysis

In 2024, she also completed an internship with Etobicoke Centre MPP and Minister of Infrastructure Kinga Surma's office. Following her work with Kerzner, Ford shared online: "A great end to a great internship working alongside a great team. It's been an honour to work for The Ministry of the Solicitor General Office with (MPP Michael Kerzner)."

Remembering Her Father's Legacy

The political entry comes a decade after her father, Rob Ford, lost his battle with cancer when Stephanie was just ten years old. At his funeral, she spoke movingly about his legacy, stating: "My dad was a great mayor. He helped a lot of people. He was also an amazing dad." She described family vacations to "amazing places" and how he provided for her and her younger brother Dougie.

"I know my dad is in a better place now and he's the mayor of Heaven now," she said during the emotional tribute. "Dougie and I know that he will be with us forever. I love him so much."

A New Generation of Ford Political Engagement

Stephanie Ford's election to the Ontario PC Party executive committee represents a continuation of the Ford family's deep involvement in Ontario politics across multiple generations. As youth representative, she will play a crucial role in engaging younger voters and party members, bringing her experience with social media and policy research to the position.

The political development occurs as the Progressive Conservative Party prepares for future electoral challenges, having recently secured a third consecutive term in office. Ford's entry into formal party leadership positions signals the ongoing evolution of one of Ontario's most recognizable political families as a new generation assumes active roles within the provincial political landscape.
