Renata Ford will be laid to rest next week at Riverside Cemetery, the same burial ground as her late husband, former Toronto mayor Rob Ford. The 55-year-old died suddenly on July 5, according to her obituary.
Visitation and Funeral Mass Details
A visitation will be held at Newediuk Funeral Home, Kipling Chapel, located at 2058 Kipling Ave., north of Rexdale Blvd., on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., with words of remembrance at 4 p.m. Her funeral mass will take place Monday at All Saint's Church, 1415 Royal York Rd., starting at 1:30 p.m., followed by interment at Riverside Cemetery.
Renata is survived by her children, Stephanie and Douglas. Her obituary describes her as the beloved wife of the late Rob Ford and a cherished mother who will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
Family Statement and Political Legacy
Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Renata's brother-in-law, expressed his grief in a statement on July 5: "My heart breaks for Stephanie and Dougie. They've been through so much at such young ages and losing their mom is incredibly painful. Our whole family is hurting for them."
A cause of death has not been released. Renata married Rob Ford in 2000 and remained with him until his death from cancer in 2016. The couple were in the public eye during Rob's tenure as mayor of Toronto from 2010 to 2014, which was marked by his struggles with addiction.
In 2019, Renata attempted to enter federal politics, running as a candidate for the People's Party of Canada in Etobicoke North. She finished fourth in the race, which was won by Liberal incumbent Kristy Duncan. Her daughter, Stephanie Ford, currently serves as an executive vice-president of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party.
