Two individuals wanted on outstanding warrants were taken into custody following a traffic stop on Manitoulin Island, Wikwemikong Tribal Police confirmed.

The incident occurred on June 25, 2026, when officers conducted a routine traffic stop on Highway 6 near the Wikwemikong Unceded Territory. During the stop, police identified the occupants as having active warrants for their arrest.
According to a press release from the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service, the pair were arrested without incident and are facing charges related to the original warrants. The suspects were transported to the Wikwemikong detachment for processing.
“Our officers remain vigilant in ensuring public safety on our roads,” said a police spokesperson. “This arrest demonstrates the effectiveness of routine enforcement in apprehending wanted individuals.”
