A pedestrian was struck by a driver in downtown Toronto on Thursday morning, resulting in the closure of a major intersection during the morning rush hour.

Toronto police reported the collision occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m. EDT at the intersection of Yonge Street and Bloor Street. Emergency services responded to the scene, and the pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to paramedics.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. No charges have been laid at this time, police said.
Traffic Impact
The intersection was closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation, causing significant delays for commuters and TTC streetcar service. Drivers were advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes. The intersection reopened shortly after 1 p.m.
