Calgary police have identified the victim of a fatal stabbing in Tomkins Park on Saturday evening as 67-year-old Howard Gordon Hunter. The suspect has also been identified, and authorities continue to investigate the incident.
Victim and Suspect Named
According to police, Hunter was found with life-threatening injuries in the park around 6 p.m. on June 20, 2026. He was transported to hospital but later died. The suspect, whose name has not been released pending charges, is known to police and is currently in custody.
Ongoing Investigation
Police say the incident appears to be isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the public. Investigators are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area to come forward. A motive has not yet been established.
