Teen Charged After Car Crashes into Exeter Subway

A 17-year-old driver has been charged after a vehicle crashed into a Subway restaurant in Exeter, Ontario, on June 21, 2026, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Incident Details

The collision occurred at approximately 11:55 AM EDT when the vehicle struck the front of the Subway located on Main Street. Emergency services responded to the scene, and the driver was taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported among the driver, employees, or customers inside the restaurant.

OPP officers from the Huron County detachment investigated the crash. The driver, whose name has not been released due to their age, has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle under the Criminal Code.

Damage and Response

Photographs from the scene show significant damage to the restaurant's facade, with the vehicle breaching the storefront. The building was temporarily closed for structural assessment and repairs. The OPP confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the incident.

“Our officers responded quickly to ensure the safety of everyone at the scene,” said OPP spokesperson Constable Mark Reynolds. “We are grateful that no one was injured in this incident.”

Legal Proceedings

The teen is scheduled to appear in a London, Ontario court on a later date. The charges have not been proven in court. The OPP continues to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.
