Ottawa police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect following a sexual assault at a dog park in Orléans. The incident was reported on June 21, 2026, according to a media release from the Ottawa Police Service.
Details of the Incident
The assault took place at the dog park located in the area of Orléans Boulevard and Belcourt Boulevard. Police responded to a call around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. The victim, an adult woman, was approached by an unknown man while walking her dog. The suspect allegedly sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene on foot.
Investigators describe the suspect as a white male, approximately 30 to 40 years old, with a medium build and short dark hair. He was last seen wearing a blue hoodie, dark jeans, and running shoes. No weapon was reported.
Police Appeal for Information
“We believe there may be witnesses who were in the area at the time,” said Constable Amy Gagnon of the Ottawa Police Sexual Assault Unit. “Even the smallest detail could be crucial to identifying this individual.” Police are urging anyone with dashcam footage or surveillance video from nearby homes to come forward.
The Ottawa Police Service has increased patrols in the area and is working with the victim support services. No arrests have been made as of Monday morning.
Community Response
Local residents expressed shock and concern. “It’s usually a very safe, family-friendly area,” said Marie Tremblay, who walks her dog there daily. “This is unsettling for everyone.” The Orléans Dog Park Association is planning to hold a community safety meeting later this week.
